Job Description

The Electrical Design Engineer will support development of aviation engine products, project execution and design support. The primary design work will be validating or developing electrical components for commercial engine products (legacy GE engines).

Activities contributing to the design and development of products, solutions and systems for new product introductions, manufacturing support, cost out activities and root cause investigations. Activities will include the development of product requirements and definitions, changes in design, generate electrical schematics, component selection, component mechanical integration and test plans definition for harnesses and different types of sensors, accountable for the quality of own work. There is a step by step sequence of standard operational tasks which need to be followed to achieve an end result.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Execute, with some guidance, the analysis, design, test evaluation and integration related to assigned components, assemblies or process systems that meet business standards, practices, and procedures, and meet the product/program requirements.
  • Document technical data generated to substantiate the assigned components, assemblies and/or systems consistent with engineering policies and procedures.
  • Monitor and communicate project status, business issues, and significant developments.   
  • Participate as a presenter in technical and program reviews and communicate with Senior Leadership.
  • Contribute to the solution of complex technical problems.      
  • Concurrently work on multiple projects, monitoring progress and quality, and ensuring schedule requirements are met.
  • Define technical schedule cost and/or program requirements.
  • Conduct assessments and develop action plans to anticipate and respond to problems

Required Qualifications

  • This role requires basic experience in the Engineering/Technology & Electrical Component. Knowledge level is comparable to a Bachelors degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma with relevant experience).
  • Experience working with electrical/electronic components
  • Understanding of principles of sensing and instrumentation (temperature, pressure, acceleration, speed)
  • Ability to diagnosis technical issues in electrical systems and to develop practical solutions suitable for manufacture
  • The candidate will be able to demonstrate leadership on technical problem solution
  • The candidate will be able to demonstrate experience of improving design techniques and processes
  • Strong oral and written communication skills in Spanish and English
  • Effective handling of MS Office

Desired Characteristics

  • Ability to document, project planning and execute of projects.
  • Experience defining requirements, developing specifications, drawings, schematics and selecting electrical components for power generation applications
  • Ability to work with suppliers to ensure technical requirements are met
  • Effective handling of Unigraphics is desirable
