Job overview and responsibilities
This role can be described as a “player-coach”, where it encompasses the technical duties of a Principal Engineer, but also has people-leadership responsibilities. The technical duties may include the ownership of specific fleets, avionics systems, maintenance programs and service engineering and will have direct operational support of the aircraft and components. The technical aspect of this role also includes the review of documentation generated by engineering staff members. It’s also expected that this role interfaces with such entities as the OEMs, FAA and other industry committees.
In addition, they also lead a team of 6-8 engineers in their area of expertise and is responsible for resource management, assignment of work, employee development and coaching along with performance reviews and management administrative duties such as timecard and expense report approvals (list not exhaustive).
QualificationsWhat’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):
- B.S Degree or equivalent experience in Engineering or related technical field
- 2-4 years of experience as a principal engineer (or similar role elsewhere in the industry)
- Engineering skill sets which can be applied to a range of Avionics systems
- Flexibility to work operational issues in addition to project specific work
- Ability to analyze complex technical issues, detailed level of project management for regulatory compliance modifications
- Excellent verbal and technical writing skills needed
- Strong skills in MS Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Travel up to 20 may be required, including international travel
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
- Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
- Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position

Ability to specify, install and sustain specific avionics equipage for functionality, reliability, and life cycle management
Previous people leadership experience
Previous ATA 31 experience (ex. displays, flight data recorders, ACMS, etc.)
The base pay range for this role is $129,675.00 to $168,794.00.
The base salary range/hourly rate listed is dependent on job-related, factors such as experience, education, and skills. This position is also eligible for bonus and/or long-term incentive compensation awards.
