We are developing the future of Army Aviation with the Bell Future Long-Range Assault Aircraft (FLRAA) part of the US Army’s Future Vertical Lift (FVL) modernization effort. We are also developing the Bell 525 Relentless and Bells High-Speed Vertical Take-Off and Landing (HSVTOL) program, a next generation stop-fold aircraft.
This position is onsite in Fort Worth.
Rapid Prototyping
This is an engineering position within Bell’s Rapid Prototyping (RP) organization. The RP organization serves Bell’s Program teams by transforming their designs into concept demo air vehicles. Concept demo air vehicles include both clean-sheet and existing air vehicle modifications. In addition, the RP organization is responsible for fabrication of risk reduction test articles in support of concept demo air vehicle development. The RP organization is expected to collaborate with design teams beginning at project inception to accelerate project execution by maximizing concurrency of Air Vehicle Build planning activity.
What you’ll be doing as a RP Air Vehicle Build Engineer
- Ensure sound execution of experimental Air Vehicle Build (AVB) activities
- Develop cost estimates and budgetary requirements for AVBs
- Create AVB schedules and coordinate integration into engineering schedules
- Identify and concept AVB tooling / work aids required for assembly Bell
- Conduct AVB detail part and assembly producibility assessments
- Create and manage AVB manufacturing work instructions
- Participate in strategic make / buy decisions
- Assist with supplier selection for sourcing detail parts and subassemblies
- As required, provide onsite liaison at suppliers / engineering partners
- Provide AVB build status reports and briefings to management
- Develop airframe / mechanical design solutions for moderately complex problems based on project requirements
- Create detail, assembly, and installation airframe / mechanical CAD models and drawings
- Apply technical standards, principles, theories, concepts, and techniques to provide technical solutions to a wide range of challenging problems
- Design solutions that adhere to the Design Requirements Manual, Airframe Design Manual, Best Practices, and Bell procedures unless directed otherwise by project requirements
- Support development of product changes and improvements
