The Boeing Company is looking for a Senior Systems Engineer on the Chinook Airworthiness & Certification Team to join our team in Ridley Park, Pennsylvania.
This position will apply an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to the full range of activities required to support Airworthiness Certification for various customers of the H47 Chinook aircraft.
Position Responsibilities:
Lead and manage software certification activities in compliance with DO-178 and DO-254 standards
Conduct and support SOI audits, including SOI-1, SOI-2, SOI-3, and SOI-4, ensuring all processes and documentation meet regulatory requirements
Develop and maintain certification plans, standards, and procedures to ensure compliance with industry regulations and customer requirements
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software development, systems engineering, quality assurance, and project management, to ensure certification requirements are understood and met
Provide guidance and training to engineering teams on certification processes and best practices
Interface with certification authorities and customers to address certification issues and provide necessary documentation and evidence
Review and approve software development lifecycle documentation, including plans, requirements, design, code, and test artifacts
Ensure traceability of requirements through all phases of the software development lifecycle
Participate in technical reviews and provide feedback to ensure compliance with certification standards.
Stay current with industry standards, regulatory changes, and best practices related to software certification
Critical thinking, problem solving, change management, project management, influencing without authority, & consultation
Ability to communicate concisely in writing, verbally, one-on-one, in small groups, and to large audiences
Experience managing, developing, motivating and communicating responsibilities to team members
Maintain situational awareness of the overall program and critical path sequencing
Proactively communicate with various leadership team/s, peers and customers
Collaborate with various IPTs to ensure certification requirements are integrated in design and test of aircraft systems
Excellent knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry standards for aerospace software certification
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
This position is hybrid (4 days in office). This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options. This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.
The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science. (Level 4 - Bachelor’s degree and 9+ years’ experience or Master’s and 7+ years) OR (Level 5 - Bachelor’s degree and 14+ years’ experience or Master’s and 12+ years) OR (Level 6 - Bachelor’s degree and 20+ years’ experience or Master’s and 17+ years)
5+ years of experience in engineering
Experience in software certification, with a focus on DO-178 and DO-254 standards
Experience with the understanding of software development processes and lifecycle models.
Experience with working effectively in a team environment and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Proven experience conducting SOI audits and assessments.
Systems Engineering experience or education
Related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience leading or managing projects and/or teams
Experience in safety and continued airworthiness
Strong interpersonal and analytical skills as well as excellent written and oral communication skills
Performance in a team-oriented environment with multiple engineering, customer and supplier stakeholders
Experience working with US Department of Defense customers

Summary Pay Range (level 4): $128,350 - $173,650
Summary Pay Range (level 5): $157,250 - $212, 750
Summary Pay Range (level 6): $186,150 - $251,850
