Position Summary:
AAA United States, Inc. has partnered with a company in Mobile, AL that is a global manufacturer of electronic components and subsystems serving primarily the aerospace and defense markets. They develop, design and manufacture a broad array of RF and microwave products for critical defense and commercial applications.
The Visual Work Card Instruction Engineer is responsible for developing, standardizing, and maintaining clear and accurate visual work instructions used on the production floor. This role ensures that manufacturing tasks are communicated effectively to operators through visual aids, diagrams, and step-by-step guidance, in compliance with engineering standards, safety protocols, and quality requirements.
Essential Functions:
- Develop detailed and visually guided work instructions (Visual Work Cards) for manufacturing processes, including assembly, fabrication, and installation.
- Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and BOMs to translate complex technical data into operator-friendly instructions.
- Create and embed images, diagrams, and 3D models (when available) into work cards using software tools such as Catia, Siemens Teamcenter, Creo Illustrate, Adobe Illustrator, or equivalent.
- Work cross-functionally with Manufacturing Engineers, Quality, Production Supervisors, and Trainers to ensure accuracy, clarity, and usability of instructions.
- Validate work instructions on the shop floor to ensure completeness, accuracy, and operational efficiency.
- Revise and maintain documentation based on engineering changes, process improvements, or feedback from the floor.
- Ensure compliance with company standards, AS9100 requirements, and other relevant regulatory documentation standards.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to streamline work instruction development and improve process clarity.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field. Equivalent experience may be considered.
- 2+ years of experience in manufacturing or process documentation, preferably in the aerospace, automotive, or high-tech manufacturing sector.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, engineering drawings, and technical documentation standards.
- Proficiency with CAD tools and visualization software (Catia, Creo, SolidWorks, etc.) and technical illustration tools.
- Excellent written and visual communication skills with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment with multiple stakeholders.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and visual management tools is a plus.
