Aircraft Structures Mechanic 3 – E-6B Program

Location: Lake Charles, LA
Shift: Must be available to work any shift (days, evenings, nights, weekends).


Position Overview

We are seeking experienced Aircraft Mechanics to support a critical maintenance program for the Navy E-6B aircraft, an airborne command post and communications relay based on platform. This aircraft plays a vital role in national security, relaying instructions from the National Command Authority to fleet ballistic missile submarines—a mission known as TACAMO ("Take Charge and Move Out").


Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain, repair, and modify aircraft structures, components, and engines of complex to extreme difficulty.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical components; replace parts as needed.
  • Perform sheet metal/structural modifications and repairs.
  • Read and interpret maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical data, and engineering specifications.
  • Use specialized tools such as torque wrenches, micrometers, cable tensiometers, sheet metal brakes, and shears.
  • Provide technical support to engineers and customers.
  • Adjust, repair, or replace electrical wiring systems and aircraft accessories.
  • Perform scheduled inspections (100-hour, phase, periodic, isochronal) and diagnose engine malfunctions.
  • Inspect jet engines and components for cracks, corrosion, and wear; test engine operation using diagnostic equipment.
  • Maintain and repair flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical components.
  • Assemble, modify, and install wire bundles and electrical components.
  • Make accurate entries in aircraft logs and records; provide guidance to junior technicians.
Job Requirements:
  • Basic Qualifications

    • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
    • Minimum 10 years of relevant aircraft maintenance experience.
    • Ability to work in approved environments during specified hours.
    • Physically able to relocate as needed and work in confined spaces or at heights.
    • Ability to wear respirators and other safety gear.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • A&P License.
    • Experience with E-6B or 707.
    • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret DoD clearance (not required to start).

    Work Conditions

    • May involve exposure to noise, dust, heat, cold, and confined spaces.
    • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
