STS Technical Services is hiring a 2nd Shift Machining Supervisor in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. This is a direct hire opportunity with a leading manufacturer that values leadership, precision, and process optimization in a fast-paced production environment.
Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Machining Supervisor to oversee 2nd shift operations in our machine shop. This hands-on leadership role is responsible for supervising daily shop activities, managing workflow, and ensuring production efficiency, quality, and safety. The ideal candidate has a strong background in manufacturing, CNC programming knowledge, and the ability to drive continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise daily operations of the machine shop on 2nd shift
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols, quality standards, and production goals
- Manage job scheduling and workflow coordination to maximize efficiency
- Monitor machine performance and coordinate routine maintenance to reduce downtime
- Use micrometers, calipers, and other precision measuring tools to ensure product specifications are met
- Maintain detailed records of output, inventory, and team performance metrics
- Lead continuous improvement efforts to optimize machining processes and meet departmental goals
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, quality, purchasing, and operations teams
- Estimate machining times and resources for upcoming jobs to improve cost-effectiveness
- Support team development through strong communication, hands-on leadership, and real-time problem-solving
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of experience working on the shop floor in a manufacturing facility
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a leadership or supervisory role
- Strong communication and decision-making skills
- Ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Proficient in math, computer use, and Microsoft Office Suite
- Familiarity with CNC and manual machining processes strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of job scheduling, planning, and production management
