About the Role
The work pattern for this role will be Monday through Friday 0800-1615.
Education and Experience Requirements
Other Registered Adult Nurse, on part 1 of the NMC (Nursing and Midwifery Council) register. required. Other Postgraduate qualification in Occupational Health
required. Evidence of up to date knowledge base of professional and specialist issues
Sound educational background including a good standard of numeracy and written English.
. Other Post registration experience in adult nursing and experience in occupational health nursing including experience of working Band 7 or equivalent outside the NHS.
Position Purpose:
Provide all aspects of workplace professional advice to senior management and employees including but not limited to; an occupational health surveillance, screening and immunization service, consultation, referrals, risk assessments, education and testing where appropriate and in accordance with Gulfstream policies and national legislation.
Job Description
Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
Essential Functions:
- Develop, implement and maintain a comprehensive occupational health, wellbeing and health surveillance programme for employees and provide all aspects of occupational health with current Health and Safety legislation.
- Advise and guide managers and employees on wellbeing initiatives in the workplace.
- Collaborate with managers to help promote a healthy work environment providing professional advice and guidance.
- Advising managers and employees on an individual's fitness to work at the pre-employment stage and during employment, taking into account any relevant legislation such as the disability component of the Equality Act 2010.
- Develop and deliver wellbeing initiatives to enhance employee awareness and engagement.
- Maintain accurate and confidential health records in compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with HR, EHS, and management to implement proactive measures for injury prevention and workplace health promotion.
- Provide comprehensive advice & reports advising on all aspects of Occupational Health; including sickness absence and case management/return to work advice for employees referred to the service by managers, EHS & HR .
- To assess any employee following a body fluid exposure, undertaking a risk assessment for bloodborne viruses and taking appropriate action in accordance with the DoH guidelines.
Additional Functions:
- Knowledge and experience of Occupational Health in the Business Sector .
- Experience of HAVS/Audiometry/Spirometry/undertaking workplace assessments .
- Knowledge and understanding of occupational diseases and ill health arising from the working environment .
- Ability to prioritise and manage time effectively. .
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, written and oral .
- In-depth knowledge of occupational health regulations, standards, and best practices. .
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment. .
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills. .
- Experience of the development and review of standard operating protocols .
- Management and/or Leadership experience .
- Able to assess, plan and communicate adjustments required. in the workplace when assessing members of staff who were unable to complete their role due to illness or disability .
- Demonstrates a self-motivated and proactive approach to work .
- Presentation Skills .
- Forward thinking and planning effectively under pressure and to meet deadlines .
- Competent in the use of IT packages e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, spreadsheets etc .
- Awareness and respect for colleagues, patients and relatives cultural, religious and emotional needs and beliefs .
Perform other duties as assigned.
Other Requirements:
- Knowledge and experience of working in NHS occupational health Preferred.
- Mental Health Nursing qualification.
- NEBOSH qualification.
